Lanier Mose Myrick, age 89, died peacefully on Oct. 27, 2012.

He is pre-deceased by his wife of over 60 years, Mae Kappel Myrick. Lanier was born in June 1923 near Canoe, Ala., and raised on the family farm in Canoe by his parent, B.F. Myrick and Bedie Smith Myrick. He graduated from Atmore High School in 1941, joined the U.S. Navy, and served in the Pacific until the end of World War II. Following the war, he graduated from the University of Florida in 1949. He and his wife Mae lived in Fairhope, for over fifty years and Lanier enjoyed a thirty-year career as a salesman and general sales manager in the trucking industry primarily in Mobile. After Lanier retired, he embarked on his second career, devoting the last twenty-five years of his life to managing and maintaining the family farm in Canoe. Lanier will be missed by his three children, John L. Myrick; Paul D. Myrick and Patricia M. Cloniger; their spouses, Lorie Storey, Karen Myrick and Curt Cloniger; six grandchildren, Brooke Lovelace; Joshua Myrick, Matthew Myrick, Geoffrey Lanier Myrick, Kappel Cloniger and Lilly Cloniger; and five great-grandchildren, Stella and Lanier Lovelace, Hatcher, Harrison Myrick and Olivia Myrick. A graveside funeral service was held at the Myrick Family Graveyard that Lanier Myrick established and maintained on the family farm in Canoe. Arrangements by Atmore Funeral Home.
