LCDR Victor Young, USN Retired, a WWII, Korea and Vietnam veteran, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012, at the age of 95.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Catherine Herbert Young; and parents, John L. Young and Helen Miller Young. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Huntsville. Survivors include daughters, Loretta Williams (Milton) of Madison and Patricia Kahn (Lawrence) of Lilburn, Ga; grandchildren, Eric Slayton of San Francisco, Calif., Jon Slayton (Iris) of Cullman, Victor Slayton (Emily) of Dallas, Ga, Aaron Kahn (Laura) of Alexandria, Va., and Allison Sandifer (Eric) of Cary, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Elijah and Victoria Slayton of Dallas, Ga, and Brooke, Trevor and Wyatt Slayton of Cullman; sister, Gladys Raschke (Bert) of Port Hueneme, Calif. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Tom Lovell officiating. Burial will be at sea.
