Baldwin County Public School Superintendent Dr. Alan Lee and Baldwin County Sheriff Huey Hoss Mack are asking members of the local community to pledge support to United Way of Baldwin County’s annual campaign. The two men met this week with Foley High School football standout Steven Jones to emphasize the significant role United Way plays in the lives of area individuals. An honor student and senior at FHS, Jones is a resident of the Alabama Sheriffs’ Baldwin County Boys Ranch, a United Way agency.

He credits the ranch with providing a nurturing, home environment that has allowed him to do well in school.

According to Mack, the sheriff’s office works with the ranch and ten other local United Way agencies to provide services to area residents in need. “It’s very important to provide much needed funding during these times not only to assist the boys at the ranch but also to see all the agencies succeed,” Mack said.

Lee agreed and added United Way brings relief and support to people who have no other options. “In Steven’s case, it helped make him a successful, contributing member of the county,” Lee said. “That’s reason enough for all of us to contribute to a unified effort and to give whatever we can to help.”

United Way of Baldwin County has set a goal of $905,000. To pledge to the annual campaign call 251-943-2110 or visit www.unitedway-bc.org.
