Learning character the ‘pirate’ way

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Students and parents at the Fairhope K-1 Center enjoyed a play put on by several K-1 staff members as part of their Show Me Character program. The purpose of the play was to teach the students how to be responsible, reliable and respectful.

Several K-1 staff members amused the students as they performed a humorous play aimed at helping the children understand the meaning of these key components to having good character.

Sherilyn McNally played a spunky child named Sam; Jenny Douglass played Sam’s friend, Petey the Parrot; Kacie Hardman played the reliable pirate; Curtis Brodie played the respectful pirate; and Mark Doherty played the responsible pirate.

The first grade classes of Mrs. McNally, Mrs. Hardman and Mrs. Douglas also pirate-clad, performed in the play by singing several upbeat songs.

The Show Me Character program is designed to build strong character that lasts a lifetime by providing Baldwin County schools the curricula and training to provide students with good character needed to succeed in both school and life.
