Leslie Spradlin, an author and illustrator who lives in Daphne, came to help the kindergartners at Rockwell Elementary have fun with the letter S.  Spradlin wrote and illustrated a book called The Sunglass Kid.  She read the story to the kindergarten classes and emphasized the “S” words that were in the book.  She also talked to them about what they would need to do to become an author or illustrator.  She showed them other drawings that she has done for other authors and gave them a preview of some books she is currently working on.  The children brought sunglasses from home to wear. Pictured, from left, are kindergartners Dalton Boykin, Trevor Labbe, Kellie Birt, Ms. Spradlin, Tarah Thompson and Hunter Adams.
