Ottie Mae Lee “Scatter” Sutton, died Friday, March 14, 2008.

She was born Dec. 20, 1925 in Bucatunna, Miss., to Ottosee and Beatrice Lee. She was the third of seven children.

When in high school, she played basketball, excelled in studies and generally enjoyed life. She graduated as valedictorian of her class at Buckatunna High School at age 16 and went off to the big city of Mobile to seek her fortune and education.

She attended Spring Hill College and received a degree in business. She loved to travel and travelled all over the world, however, her favorite place was with her family.

She met her husband, Clement “Clem” Francis Sutton and married. She had three children, two step-children and was blessed with seven grandchildren.

She worked and retired as a civil service employee working with The Blue Angles. She also enjoyed being a business owner, real estate entrepreneur and Realtor. She loved a good party and was involved in several mystic organizations. She was an avid sports fan and loved all kinds of sports.

She never stopped learning or wanting to learn. She loved to giggle and visit her family and friends. She also truly appreciated a great cup of coffee. She loved her family, grandchildren, God and country. She was always so proud of her grandchildren and was always there to support them.

She will be remembered for her strong spirit and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, a host of friends and a special acknowledgement to her dear friends, Mae and George Massey for their love and support.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clement “Clem” Francis Sutton, her parents, sisters, Margaret V. Lee, Dolores Lee and Virginia “Ginny” Lee Olsen.

Survivors include five children, Sharon Sutton (Richard) Howe, Bennett “Bubba” (Beth) Sutton, Kimberly Sutton (Jeff) Kimbro, Clement Ronald (Margie) Sutton and Mary Sutton (Mike) Weekly; seven beautiful grandchildren who dearly loved their Granny, Emmalee Frances Sutton, Thomas Frederick Howe, Chelsea Merrill Kimbro, Madeline Margaret Howe, Mallorie Ellen Howe, Ronald “Little Ronnie” Sutton and Michael Weekly; three siblings, Anita Lee Stringfellow, Bertha Gardner and Rudy (Wanda) Lee, special brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Olsen; and a special pet, Happy Sutton.

Funeral services and visitation were held Wednesday, March 19 at Pine Rest Funeral Home. Interment followed at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
