Lena Childress “Pearl” Burroughs, 81, a lifelong resident of Loxley, passed away peacefully at her home with family and friends.
Mrs. Burroughs loved gardening, sewing, visiting, cooking, having company over and making her town rounds. She enjoyed being active in her community, as she loved her town of Loxley.
She raised fruits and vegetables only to give them away.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Lindsey H. Burroughs Sr. of Loxley; children, Becky King of Gulf Shores, Tracy (David) Butcher of Milton, Fla., Melanie (Brian) Lomax of Silverhill, Robin (Joe) Petelinski of Robertsdale, Lindsey H. (Denise) Burroughs Jr. of Rosinton, Alan Hinton of Loxley and Cynthia Hinton (Courtney) Hohmann of Jacksonville, Fla.; loving sister, Carolyn (Mitchell) White of Robertsdale; 12 grandchildren, David (Nycole) King, Kevin King, Amanda King, Justin Boyington, Joseph Petelinski, Jacob Petelinski, Natalie (Daniel) Murphy, Nicholas Lomax, Rachel Lomax, Rebekah Lomax, Alexandra “Pearl” Burroughs and Lindsey H. Burroughs III; five great-grandchildren; many very special nieces and nephews; and a group of truly nice friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at 3 p.m., at Loxley First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Spencer and Dr. Bo Rice officiating.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1 until 3 p.m. before the service.
