Lewis William Newlan, age 71, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, in Foley.
He had recently retired from Thompson Engineering, Mobile as a Registered Roof Consultant. A native of East Peoria, Ill., he was the son of Charles and Lorraine Newlan who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Indiana University and a former resident of Jeffersonville, Ind. where he served on numerous boards. Locally he was past president of the Foley Historical Board, a member of Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church, a life member of the Mobile Masonic Lodge No. 40, and a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sylvia Pippin (Richard) and Charlene Parnell. His survivors are his wife, Treva; a daughter, Dana Roper (Jeffrey) of Mobile; a son Dale Newlan, Santa Monica, Calif; two brothers, James Newlan (Paula), Clinton, Tenn.; Edward Newlan (Terry), East Peoria; one sister, Carol Delacruz, Pontiac, Ill.; two grandchildren, Steffanie and Owen Roper. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Mack Funeral Home, 22154 State Highway 59, Robertsdale followed with Masonic Services. His body will be cremated and interred later in Eugene, Ind., at the family cemetery. The family will receive visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. A luncheon will be held at Morgan’s Chapel, 6391 Bon Secour Highway, Bon Secour after the services for all who attend.
