L.G. “Gene” Abercrombie, 84, a native of Hall County, Ga. and resident of Foley, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014.
Mr. Abercrombie was a member of Fisherman’s Baptist Church in Bon Secour.
He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in 1985 after working with them for 35 years.
Mr. Abercrombie is survived by his wife, Mary Abercrombie of Foley; sons, Larry (Bettie) Abercrombie of Stout, Ohio and Bill (Carolyn) Abercrombie of Gadsden; daughter, Marcia (Greg) Gaug of Mogadore, Ohio; grandchildren, Cassie (Alex), Chris (Abby), Carrie, Kim (Tim), Mathew (Charleigh), Nathan (Christy), Curtis and Kristin; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother, Jay Abercrombie.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 23, 2014 at Fisherman’s Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 2.
Interment will follow the service in Fisherman’s Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Mr. Abercrombie’s name to Fisherman’s Baptist Church, 17117 River Road, Bon Secour, AL 36511.
