FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Author Sonny Brewer and the Fairhope Public Library invite the community to continue the city’s commitment to “inspiration, education and imagination” this holiday with the launch of an annual Holiday Tribute program to benefit the new Fairhope Public Library.

“We had a vision for an annual effort that would allow the community to honor their loved ones and colleagues each holiday with a gift to the library,” offers Library Board Chairman Martin Lanaux. “We also wanted to honor the rich literary heritage here in Fairhope, so we invited Sonny Brewer to be our first featured local author as part of the Holiday Tribute.”

Brewer is currently on a national book tour celebrating his latest release, Cormac – Story of a Dog Gone Missing. He is also the highly acclaimed author of The Poet of Tolstoy Park and Sound Like Thunder. The illustration for the Holiday Tribute response card features original artwork from Brewer, inspired by the narrative of Fly Creek and environs told in Sound Like Thunder.

“Each year we’ll feature an author’s musings and original artwork in a response card I think folks will want to frame and collect,” said Lanaux. “The Single Tax Colony founders made a strong library a priority for this utopian community, and our beautiful new library certainly fulfills their vision.”

Thousands of cards have been sent to Fairhope area residents this week. In return for a tax-deductible donation of $10 per loved one, the library will send a response card featuring Brewer’s art to each honoree. Additional cards will be available at Fairhope Public Library and Fairhope City Hall.
