Library to begin movie nights

DAPHNE, Ala.—The Daphne Public Library will debut its movie nights on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the community room.

The program’s first run of features will celebrate the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day; all four films will be Irish productions.

“We will have the movies, a month ahead of time, available on a handout at the circulation desk,” reference librarian Anne Morris said. “But for now, the March offerings all will be titles with an Irish flavor.”

Tuesday’s feature will be “The Secret of Roan Inish,” the critically acclaimed John Sayles film about an adolescent girl dealing with the loss of her mother. Inish—an Irish island—serves as a picturesque backdrop of green mountains bordering the icy North Atlantic coast.

“Waking Ned Devine,” “The Quiet Man” and the documentary “In Search of Ancient Ireland and Over Ireland” round out the month’s lineup.

Admission is free; popcorn and refreshments will be provided.
