It is time to “Light Up Orange Beach” and win a prize from the Orange Beach Garden Club. This annual contest is a hometown favorite. Past winners have included Todd and Cynthia White and Bob and Terry Barnett in the residential category and Bear Point Civic Association and Phoenix on the Bay in the commercial category.

Judging is based on several criteria: overall appearance from the street, creative use of decorations, lighting (all working), blow ups (fully inflated) and effective use of area.

There are two classifications: Residential, first prize, $100; second prize, $50; third prize, $25; and honorable mention. The second category is Commercial, condominium and businesses. Winners in this group are eligible to receive a first place award and a certificate of merit. Signs will also be placed on the winners’ property.
