Lillian Women’s Club celebrates spring

LILLIAN, Ala. —The sun was shining, it was a perfectly delightful spring day. Members of the Lillian Women’s Club went all out when they met on Tuesday, April 17.

The theme for the meeting was “Spring Bonnets”. They wore bonnets of all colors, some small, some very large, some unique.

Lois Croutharmel, Dorothy Diamond and Sherry Arnold served as judges. It was tough as they deliberated several minutes before announcing the winner.Linda Andrews walked away with the “Top Hat” award. Her large white bonnet with an extremely large red, red rose was very striking. Congratulations Linda!

Sue Huff and Lynn Ochs catered our delicious lunch. Their prize winning Chocolate Éclair Cake was a big hit.

Entertainment was provided by the “Spanish Cove Happy Notes”. They played music and sang songs that brought back memories of years past. You know …  the “good ole days” when many of our families would gather at a home on Saturday night; roll up the rugs and dance.

Songs such as “Little Jimmie Brown” and " Pistol Pac kin Mama" caused many members to spring from their seats and dance while others sang along and tapped their feet.

It proved to be a lucky day for our president, Joanne Mathews. She won both the door prize and the 50/50 drawing. Other door prize winners were Char Kuhr and De Howery.

An “Old Thyme Country Picnic” is planned for May 15 at Spanish Cove Club House. The committee has planned some special activities for your enjoyment. The caterer promises to have food you'll rave about. Hope, you’ll come relax, reminisce, and enjoy.

Reservations must be made by May 8h at the Lillian Perdido Bay Library or with Lois Croutharmel. It will be our last get together for the summer.
