Linda Lightcap Yeend, 68, a native of Tampa, Fla., and a resident of Point Clear, died peacefully, Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at a local health care center after a long illness.
She was a graduate of Bishop Toolen High School and Loyola University of New Orleans. She was an accomplished flautist and pianist, at one time playing with the New Orleans Pops, and later with the Symphony Orchestra in Parma, Ohio. A very competent Navy wife for 27 years (the hardest job in the Navy), she also volunteered over 5,000 hours with the Red Cross and the Navy Relief Society. After moving to Fairhope, she was director, Volunteer Action of Baldwin County. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Clement A. Lightcap and Cecile McHale Lightcap.
Survivors include her husband, George W. Yeend Jr. of Point Clear; five children, David (Melisa) Yeend of Fairhope, Rebecca (Thomas) Massingill of Mobile, Adam (Stacey) Yeend of Montgomery, Stephen (Katy) Yeend of Daphne, and Amy Yeend of Hattiesburg, Miss.; nine grandchildren, three brothers, five sisters, numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Sept. 27 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
