John T. Linkous, 66, a native of Charlottesville, Va., and a resident of Gulf Shores, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008.
He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service, as a CW3. He served two tours in Vietnam. He was Chaplain for the American Legion Post 44 in Gulf Shores. He was the operations manager for Cullman Memory Gardens, for 22 years. He was employed as operations manager at L.A. Pools.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Lettie Linkous; son, John T. Linkous Jr.; and two brothers, Bill Linkous and Harold Brookman.
Survivors include his wife, Felicia A. Linkous of Gulf Shores; three sons, Terry Wayne Linkous of South Carolina, Michael D. Linkous of Cullman and Tyler Austin Waters of Gulf Shores; two daughters, Cynthia Sue Wright and Tracey Rayburn, both of Cullman; brother, Blair Linkous of Huntsville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, a host of relatives and close friends.
Funeral services and visitation were held Monday, Dec. 22 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley. Funeral services and visitation were held Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors followed at Cullman Memory Gardens.
