FOLEY, Ala.—The Lions’ bats were busy on Monday as Foley High defeated Davidson’s Warriors in a doubleheader 5-4 and 9-8.
Foley 5, Davidson 4
The Lions pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. Cody Browder’s two-run single scored Dalton Gideons and McLean White.
Cory Burton got win on the mound for FHS. He allowed one run over one inning. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered one hit.
The game was scoreless until Foley scored a run in the fifth. Davidson took the lead on two runs in both the sixth inning and the seventh. But more Foley runs came home on a groundout by David Hendrick and a two-run single by Browder.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest with eight lead changes in the game. Foley pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning on a single by David Hendrick. E Patterson got the win in relief for the Lions. Patterson pitched two innings and allowed one run.
Foley’s offense was sparked by Casey Gattenio and Shaun Stidham, who teamed up for three hits and two RBIs. Cody Browder singled to ignite Foley in the sixth. Browder scored on a passed ball while Gideons and Cecchinato scored on a two-run triple by Gattenio. In the third, Browder scored on an RBI single by Stidham.
