FOLEY, Ala. — There’s something for every one at LiveOak Assisted Living’s senior celebration this Saturday. Open to the public, head on over to enjoy food, entertainment, a dog show, good food and a jump on a bouncy castle. Although, maybe not in that order.
The senior celebration, formerly known as the May Day celebration, will be held under the oaks on the grounds of LiveOak Village Assisted Living Center on Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We wanted to provide a fun day for our residents, their families and families throughout the area,” LiveOak’s Susan Storey said. “It’s a great thing to do. We respect our seniors so much here and we wanted to do something fun for them.”
The event will kick off with the presentation of the Senior Celebration court and the crowning of the king and queen. The court, king, and queen were voted to their positions by the residents at LiveOak.
Entertainment will include singers “Doug and Edie”, “Odell Smith” and “As Many As Two”. The Spanish Cove Dancers also will perform.
Raffle drawings for gift baskets, gift certificates, and services will also be drawn.
Once you have the whole family packed into the car, don’t forget the dog because they are welcome too.
A dog show at 10 a.m. will award prizes in the following categories: smallest, largest, most unusual, prettiest, cutest, best dressed and best trick.
The dog show is open to anyone who wishes to participate, but must pre-register and keep dogs on a leash at all times.
“We’ve been planning this for months,” Storey said. “It’s a great event. We are really looking forward to the dog show. It should be fun.”
If you don’t have a dog to enter, you can adopt one from BARC at the event.
