DAPHNE, Ala. — Pat Livingston, a nationally-known spiritual speaker and award-winning author, will give a talk Monday, April 14, 7 p.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church, in Daphne. The theme of her talk will be “Letting in the Light,” or letting the Spirit lift our spirits.

Livingston says there is a growing sense of darkness in our world and we need to “remind each other that the central Christian mystery is an invitation to joy.” She will share light from Scripture, science, literature, laughter, theology and the “wisdom of our lives.”

According to the Univer-sity of Notre Dame’s Ave Maria Press, Livingston is “in much demand as a keynote speaker, workshop leader, and retreat director.  She is best known for her touching, story-telling style of illuminating the presence of God in every day life.  Livingston has a unique gift for opening us to the beauty of our own stories with their special truth of God’s present love.”

Livingston has been giving workshops, lectures and parish missions around the United States for 25 years.  She was the associate director of the Center for Continuing Formation in Ministry at the University of Notre Dame, for seven years.

Her books, published by Ave Maria Press/Sorin Books, are often on spiritual best-seller lists. Her books include: “Lessons of the Heart,” “This Blessed Mess” and “Let in the Light: Facing the Hard Stuff with Hope.”

Livingston has audiotapes with several publishers and has been a contributor to Ligorian, Church, U.S. Catholic, Living Faith and other magazines. Livingston was chosen for the 1990 U.S. Catholic Award, given to a person who has significantly furthered the cause of women in the church.

She lives in Tampa, Fla., and is a wife, mother and grandmother of nine.

A donation is requested at the door. Livingston will have her books available for purchase.
