GULF SHORES, Ala. — Little Lagoon Preservation Society invites members and the general public to attend its quarterly membership meeting on Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Adult Activity Center in Gulf Shores.

LLPS meeting set for Jan. 20

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Little Lagoon Preservation Society invites members and the general public to attend its quarterly membership meeting on Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Adult Activity Center in Gulf Shores.

Guest speaker, Dr. George Crozier (executive director, DISL) will present “The Realities of Climate Change and Impacts to the Alabama Coast”.

Arguments surrounding natural vs. man-made impacts will be reviewed from the point of view of coastal zone management.

Examples of impacts in other more exposed places will be presented as potential threats to the Alabama coast.

Guest speaker Justin Leifer (Ph.D candidate, DISL) will present the latest results from one year of water quality monitoring and scientific research by the LLPS/DISL team.

The general public is invited to attend this event and encouraged to join our non-profit society.

LLPS strives to: “Preserve and improve the quality of life on and around Little Lagoon by: Endeavoring to assure that the quality of water in the Little Lagoon is maintained to the highest standards set by the appropriate State and Federal regulatory agencies; banding together as a group to influence items of interest or concern to the majority of the membership to include: endeavoring to protect the lagoon and surrounding wetlands and wildlife habitat; monitoring local, state and federal governments as an advocate and watchdog group to influence matters that might impact Little Lagoon”.
