FAIRHOPE, Ala. - Local band Cool Change will perform an evening concert Tuesday, Jan. 11 at the James P. Nix Center. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately an hour with a coffee intermission.
Cool Change is a versatile band, which has played together eight years, according to a city of Fairhope news release.
“They promise a fun-filled and exciting music experience,” the release states.
Cool Change consists of Walter Tatum and David Horton of Foley, and John Andrews and Don McPherson of Magnolia Springs.
The group began singing together by chance during a Coastal Chorale performance where “they sang one of Alabama’s great songs, ‘Christmas In Dixie,’” according to the release. “They have been a hit playing at venues throughout the Gulf Coast area. With their smooth three part harmony, the band will take you on a trip down memory lane with the great songs from the past and present.”
The concert is open to the public and costs $3 for Nix Center members and $5 for others.
In other Nix Center news, basic and intermediate ballroom dance lessons start Thursday, Jan. 6 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. The classes will be taught by Skip Smith and cost $30 for members and $40 for others per six-week class.
