Fairhope Yacht Club Junior member, Mitch Powell, is headed to New Jersey on April 25-29th to represent FYC at the Optimist Dinghy Association's Team Trial regatta, held at Brant Beach Yacht Club.  The Team Trial Regatta is an invitation only regatta, and is open the top 250 Optimist sailors in the U.S.  Sailors who finish in the top 50 at Team Trials will be eligible to join the Optimist National Team. Mitch qualified for Team Trials last month at the Optimist Gulf Coast Championship Regatta at Bay Waveland, MS. Mitch has been working toward his goal of qualifying for Team Trials since he began sailboat racing in 2006, and he is very excited to represent Fairhope at this national event.  He appreciates all of the past and current support that the community and the yacht club have provided.
