LOXLEY, Alabama — A local man is facing multiple traffic and drug charges after leading police on a high-speed chase through Loxley on Tuesday.

Jeffrey Scott Robinson, 47, of Loxley, was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility on Tuesday and was awaiting a bond hearing on Wednesday after being booked on 15 charges including three felony charges, first degree assault, possession of a controlled substance and a parole violation.

Robinson is also facing misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence of a controlled substance, along with reckless endangerment and nine miscellaneous traffic charges, according to the Corrections Department website.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department chief investigator Maj. Anthony Lowery said police responded to a 911 call around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

“We got a call from a lady who said her husband had taken the car,” Lowery said. “She said she believed he was going to buy drugs and was also afraid there would be a domestic issue.”

Lowery said police arrived at the home on County Road 67 in the Rosinton Community at the same time as the suspect.

“He jumped into the driver’s side and stepped on the gas,” Lowery said. “That’s when the pursuit began.

Lowery said Robinson led police on a high-speed chase for approximately 13 to 14 minutes . After Loxley police placed spikes at the intersection of County Road 64 and Railroad Street which took out both driver’s side tires, Robinson proceeded north onto Highway 59.

“Loxley Police were able to secure the traffic on Highway 59,” Lowery said. “Officers were able to force the suspect off the road just north of (U.S.) Highway 90, where the suspect was arrested.”

Lowery also commended an unnamed Sheriff’s Department dispatcher, who received a call from Robinson during the pursuit.

“She did a great job,” he said. “She asked him to stop and when he refused, she asked him to at least slow down.”

Robinson was checked out at a local hospital after complaining of chest pains before being booked into the Corrections Facility on Tuesday.

“He said he was shooting cocaine before and during the chase,” Lowery said. “It’s not uncommon for someone to have chest pains in that situation.”

According to the Corrections Facility website, Robinson was arrested in September 2010 on fugitive from justice charges from the Daphne Police Department. Robinson, who was listed as having a Daphne address at the time, was later released. Lowery said the charges stemmed from warrants issued from Georgia.
