Local Swift School student rescued after falling into Mississippi well

Posted

Baldwin County schools spokesperson Terry Wilhite issued the following statement this afternoon: "A female kindergarten student from Swift School who was attending a summer field trip to a Mississippi farm fell into an open hole. A team of rescuers, trained in special techniques, extricated the girl from the hole. Both parents arrived at the scene prior to the child being rescued. Though we have no official report, there did not appear to be major injuries. The rest of the students returned with their chaperones without incident.

We are elated she is safe. This is all the information I have. Because of the child's minor status we can't release a name."
