Lois Audrey Holmes Stokes, a native of Clinton, Mass. was born on Dec. 18, 1923 and died on Nov. 22, 2015. A former resident of Mobile, Ala. and later moved to Daphne, Ala. At the time of her death, she lived in Fairhope, Ala.
She retired from the Army Corps of Engineers in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Henry (Hank) E Stokes Jr.
Surviving are two sons, Gregory Scott Stokes (Gwen Graves) of Norman, Okla. and Jeffrey Alan Stokes Sr. (Dolly Miller) of Fairhope, Ala.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving is one brother, Robert Thurston Holmes (Carol) of Temple Hills, Md.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
A private memorial service was held on Nov. 29, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8271 Whispering Pines Road, Daphne, AL 36526.
