Lois Holmes Smith, 91, a native of Tensaw and a loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully at Oakwood North Baldwin’s Center for Living in Bay Minette on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Fort Mims Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a longtime member of Montgomery Hill Baptist Church, serving as Church treasurer and Sunday school teacher.

She graced all in her presence with a cheerful smile and kind manner.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Harry Davis Smith Sr.; two sons, Harry Davis (Agnes) Smith Jr. of Montrose and Michael Holmes (Sandy) Smith of Mobile; son-in-law, Paul Andrew “Andy” Justice Jr.; and five grandchildren, Michael Holmes Smith of Bay Minette, Paul Andrew Justice III, David Alan Justice and Emily Beth Justice of Nashville, Tenn. and Laura Elizabeth Smith of Tallahassee, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Smith Justice; and her parents, Fred and Dell Mobley Holmes.

The funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Montgomery Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tony Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Hill Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, from 1 until the 2 p.m. service at Montgomery Hill Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Johnny McGuire, Jeff Smith, Joby Smith, Drew Justice, David Justice and Andy Justice.

The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Oakwood for their loving care of Mrs. Smith during the past one-and-one-half years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Montgomery Hill Memorial Association, c/o Mr. John E. Chason, 69002 T.J. Earle Road, Little River, AL 36550.
