Fairhope resident Louis Sidney McGrath, age 77, passed away on Jan. 31, 2018 after a brief illness.
Louis was born in Baltimore, Maryland on Aug. 25, 1940 to Sidney Louis and Margaret Schoenberger McGrath.
Louis served in the United States Army for six years and was stationed in Germany and Okinawa. After retiring from Lucent Technologies, he moved to Fairhope in 2002.
Master Gardener and avid kayaker, Louis enjoyed fishing on Mobile Bay with his buddy, Phil. He also loved to cook (he was well-known for his butternut squash soup and chocolate pound cake) and visit with his many grandchildren.
Louis is survived by his wife of 21 years, Barbara; his furbaby, Katie; and his family, Keith (Kristi), Brian, Carla (Randy), Bryan (Heidi); and six grandchildren.
There will be a private service held at a later date for close friends and family.
