Louise Sproles Shumate, 100, a native of Greenwood, Miss., and a longtime resident of Fairhope, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011.
Mrs. Shumate was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Fairhope.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Shumate; daughter, Mary Lou Greenwood; granddaughter, Jo Howell; one sister; and four brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean Vafiades of Sugarland, Texas, Judy Grove and her husband, Ron, of Biloxi, Miss.; grandchildren, Nick Vafiades and his wife, Lori, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dino Vafiades and his wife, Terri, of Nashville, Tenn., Donna Cutrona and her husband, Bob, of Sugarland, Debbie Greenwood, of Mobile, Richard Greenwood and his wife, Sue, of Los Angeles, Calif., Douglas Greenwood and his wife, Laurie, of Mobile, Wendy Jackson of New Orleans, La., David Jackson of Spanish Fort, Kelly Wood of Biloxi, Miss., 15 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held from the First Baptist Church of Fairhope, Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at 11 a.m.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service time.
Graveside services and interment will be held in Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at 2 p.m.
