GULF SHORES, Alabama — Fourteen-year-old Austin Mikovich of Keithville, Louisiana, claimed the top spot in the 34th Annual Doc’s Hot Trot for ARC 5K run/walk and 1-mile run presented by LuLu’s held June 17 in Gulf Shores.

Over 275 runners and walkers participated in the annual fundraising event conducted by the Robertsdale Rotary Club and LuLu’s to benefit the ARC of Baldwin County.

“We had a great turnout and it was a great event to raise money for a great cause,” said 2015-16 Rotary Club President Bryan Chandler.

Mikovich topped all runners in a time of 17 minutes, 17 seconds; nearly 20 seconds ahead of his closest competitor, Kenny Pfeiffer (17:33). Cody Parker was third with a time of 18:11.

Sam Gardner of Daphne was the top overall female finisher in a time of 19:06. Becca Wein finished second in 20:00 with Jill Johnston of Fairhope in third with a time of 20:30.

For the first time this year, the Robertsdale Rotary Foundation partnered with the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Sports Commission to promote the event. Gulf Coast Office Products sponsored the finish line.  Additional sponsors are CashSaver, City of Robertsdale, United Bank, D&S Produce, Bryant Bank, Professional Land Title, Heart Group of the Eastern Shore, Furniture City, Citizens’ Bank, Mandoki, South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Advantage Business Solutions, Coca Cola and Stastka Insurance.
