GULF SHORES, Ala. — Deadly spiders, evil villains and poverty can’t keep these sweethearts apart in “Babes in Toyland,” South Baldwin Community Theatre’s newest show. “Babes in Toyland” chronicles the adventures of nursery rhyme characters Tom-Tom Piper (Ryan Williams); Jane (Maegan Fowler); Alan (Nick Sebastian) and Contrary Mary (Glenellen Anderson) as they battle the evil toymaker Barnaby and try to find their missing siblings. Mike James is the director of the play, and is assisted by Joyce James and Chris James. The musical, written by Victor Herbert, includes the songs, “Toyland” and “I Can’t Do That Sum.” The play is set during the holiday season and will be performed Dec. 5 to Dec. 7 and Dec. 12 to Dec. 14 at SBCT. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday shows are at 2 p.m. Cost is $15 for adults; $7.50 for students and $5 for preschoolers. SBCT is at 2022 W.
