Dr. James L. Lowery, 89, a native of Meridian, Miss., former resident of Gadsden and a resident of Fairhope, died Monday March 30, 2009.
He served in the U.S. Army prior to World War II, and served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. He was part of the Marine detachment aboard the USS Alabama at the time of its commission.
He was in practice as a chiropractor in Gadsden for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his son Steve Lowery.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Sue Lowery of Fairhope; two daughters, Laura (Tom) Tolleson of Buford, S.C., and Nancy Lowery of Orlando, Fla.; son, Jim (Liz) Lowery of Fairhope; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 2 at Crestwood Cemetery Gadsden.
The family requests memorial donations be made to The Big Oak Boys Ranch, 250 Jake Mintz Road, Gasden, or to your favorite charity.
