LOXLEY, Ala - Come on out to Loxley Church of God Monday-Wednesday, October 18-20 for Impact 2010 and get your life “batteries” recharged.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. tonight , parents will be treated to Joe McGee, minister, author, national conference speaker, father, former school administrator and director of Faith For Families, said LCOG Children’s Minister Todd Hull

McGee, based in Nashville, TN, will be speaking on Monday and Tuesday nights about vision and spiritual discipline, relationships with kids and how to utilize their talents plus how to deal with teenagers and dating relationships.

According to his web site, McGee “will open up spiritual secrets and commonsense applications that will powerfully change your marriage, your family and your life. He mixes years of personal experience with principles of God’s word to bring pointed but humorous illustrations that will challenge you to become what God intended you to be.”

McGee and his wife, Denise, have been married over 30 years and have six children, and has spent the last 25 years training people from all walks of life in family, marriage and parenting issues.

Hull said they will also have “Myth Busters” for the kids in Kids Town, a Vacation Bible School type program with lots of fun activities and Bible games. “We want to equip parents with the tools they need to train and teach their children Biblical truths and how to deal with life’s challenges. This is a family event, not just for children or adults, but for both.”

In addition to McGee, Hull said there will be a family concert on Wednesday night by Phil Joel, contemporary Christian artist and former member of Christian band, The Newsboys.

Performing an acoustic concert, Joel, from Auckland, New Zealand, will also be talking about his new ministry deliberatePeople. According to his website, Joel sad “We are facing challenges today that we have never faced before, the word ‘relationship’ is being redefined. As Christians, we’ve got to realize the truth and beauty of having an authenic relationship with God and with one another is fast becoming seen as an old fashioned irrelevant ideal.

“Nothing is further from the truth, a real relationship with God is available and must be pursued if we are hoping to walk this life out in the peace that transcends that crazy logic of our times,” Joel said.

This it the first year for Impact and Hull is hoping for a great turnout. “Families need to get back to basics with their values and we have a vision for allowing them to do that and give their kids a bright future. We have a great church and very dynamic staff and want everyone to benefit from this event.”

Loxley Church of God is located on Hwy. 59 and for more information, contact Hull at (251) 964-6604 or visit their web site at loxleychurchofgod.org.
