October 15, 2010, LOXLEY, AL  October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the students at Loxley Elementary are working to help bring attention to this terrible disease by helping a Loxley Elementary "family" member and her family.  Loxley Elementary fifth graders in Mrs. Andrea Grimes' class honored Mrs. Angie Mims, secretary of Loxley Elementary, with a pink ribbon cake and $220.00 in gift cards.  Mrs. Mims is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.  The students created a deluxe candy bouquet and raffled it off, raising the money to purchase the gift cards.  The gift cards were for area restaurants and to help with fuel for transportation to and from Mrs. Mims' weekly treatments.  Other staff members at Loxley Elementary are wearing pink t-shirts on Friday to show their support to Mrs. Mims.
