Loxley Elementary Kindergarten and 5th Grade Work Together

Loxley Elementary has been “adopted” by the students in Mrs. Andrea

Grimes’ 5th grade class. Each student in the

kindergarten class has been paired with a buddy in the

5th grade class. Each week the buddies meet and share

some time together. Last week, the 5th graders helped

their young friends create a tracing and cut out of their hand,

which the 5th graders then turned into a piece of

artwork that was shared with their buddies. Next week, the groups

plan to read stories together. The 5th graders enjoy

being helpers with the younger children and the kindergartners

enjoy having an older friend’s

attention.
