LOXLEY, Alabama — On Friday, Oct. 28, family and friends of Angie Mimms, as well as staff and students at Loxley Elementary School, gathered to dedicate a new gazebo on the school's playground as the “Angie Mimms Memorial Gazebo.”
Mimms was a much loved employee of the school who died last July after a long and hard fought battle with breast cancer. Those in attendance wore the signature pink t-shirts which read “I love Angie” - the same shirts worn to support her while she was fighting the breast cancer.
Students and coworkers spoke during the service to recall wonderful memories of their relationships with Mimms. Each person spoke of her great courage and the wonderful, positive attitude she possessed.
Mimms' husband, Joel Mimms, her daughter, Erica Mimms, and her son, Clint Mimms were in attendance for the dedication service. A memorial fund has also been established.
