Ahoy Maties!  Mrs. Lisa Garnham’s second grade class at Loxley Elementary kicked off the new school year by learning all about pirates.  They made their own Jolly Roger flags and wrote and illustrated stories about pirates. The students also learned why pirates wear patches (to train one eye to see in the dark) and lots of other pirate fun facts. They even learned how to make and read  a treasure map.  In addition to all the fun activities, the children learned about school rules and the importance of a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.  Mrs. Garnham doesn’t expect anyone will need to swab the decks or walk the planks because her class is off to a fabulous start.  All the teachers at Loxley Elementary report that that they have great classes this year and are looking forward to a wonderful year!
