ATMORE -- A Loxley man was killed early Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 31 north of Atmore.

Randell Luther Brooks, 45, was killed when the 2002 Ford Escape he was driving collided with a 1995 GMC Sierra driven by Wesley Garland Erickson, 35, of Atmore.

The crash occurred at 5:44 a.m. Wednesday at the 44.2 mile marker on U.S. Highway 31, approximately 1 mile north of Atmore.

According to a report from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Brooks, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Erickson was transported to Atmore Community Hospital for medical treatment.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
