LOXLEY, Ala. – A Loxley man is facing attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting that happened on Friday.

The Loxley Police Department responded at 5:15 p.m. on Friday at a home on Longview Drive where they say Shannon Collins was shot in the abdominal area with a high-powered rifle.

Collins was taken by LifeFlight to the University of South Alabama Medical Center. As of Sunday night, her condition was upgraded from critical to serious.

Kevin Bryan Bartley, 29, was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections facility later Friday night and is being held without bond, charged with attempted murder and first degree domestic violence/assault.

According to Lt. Doug Phillips with the Loxley Police Department, Collins and Brantley had lived together at the address, but had been separated for some time.

“She apparently had returned to the residence to collect some of her belongings when they got into an argument,” Phillips said.

A weapon was recovered at the scene, he said.
