BAY MINETTE, Alabama – A Loxley woman convicted in the 2011 stabbing death of her husband received the maximum sentence on Wednesday in Baldwin County Circuit Court.
Judge J. Langford Floyd sentenced Britnea Myers, 24, of Loxley, to 20 years in the Aug. 14, 2011 stabbing death of her husband, Timothy Myers at their home on Leatherbury Road.
Jurors deliberated for three hours on Tuesday, May 14 before deciding on the lesser option between murder or manslaughter.
According to a press release issued at the time by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Timothy Myers, 26, was found at home with a single stab wound to the torso.
He was pronounced dead at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center after being transported by paramedics from the scene.
According to the report, deputies arrived to find Britnea Myers, attempting CPR on the victim and holding a towel over the victim’s wound. Deputies took over CPR until paramedics arrived and transported him to SBRMC.
Britnea Myers was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility 10 days after the incident. She was released in late August 2011 and electronically monitored under house arrest until the trial, which began May 7 in Baldwin County Circuit Court.
