Lucy Burson Morris, a resident of Silverhill, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at Thomas Hospital, Fairhope.

She was born June 15, 1924 in Camilla, Ga., the daughter of George Allen Burson and Genie Ivey Burson. 

She was an active member of Robertsdale Methodist Church where she served on the Bereavement Committee. She was also a member of the Silverhill Garden Club and Baldwin County Genealogical Society and she served as a hospice care giver for many years in those communities were she resided. She attended Berry College in Rome, Ga., and later graduated from the University of Georgia at Athens with a BS in dietetic management.

She and her husband lived for many years in Milwaukee, and later in St. Louis, Mo., and Columbia, S.C.

She was preceeded in death by her husband of 49 years, James DeWitt “JD” Morris; brothers, Joseph and Allen Burson; sisters, Ruth, Mary, Eunice, and twin sister Louise.

Survivors include three sons Dewitt Alvin (Katherine) Morris of Boulder, Wyo., and Thomasville, Ga., James Leslie (June) Morris of Stanley, N.M., and Christopher Lee Morris of Denver; grandchildren  Wesley Morris, Mathew Morris, Jase Morris, Jessie Morris, Kalee Morris and Cale Morris; and great-grandson, Mason James Morris; also L.C. Morris of Gateswood, Larry Morris of Bay Minette, and their families.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Mack Funeral Home, Robertsdale. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday Nov. 4 at New Hope Methodist Church, Gateswood with the Rev. Rodney Smith and Pastor Steven Spining officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to New Hope Methodist Church Perpetual Care Fund, 27896 New Hope Church Road, Robertsdale, AL 36567.
