Luther Lyndol Hunt, 82, formerly a resident of Robertsdale, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Jackson, Miss. He lived in Robertsdale for over 30 years before he moved back to Poplar Creek, Miss., where he was born and raised.
Mr. Hunt was the son of T.J. and Alma Gregg Hunt. He was a retired civil service worker with the Pensacola Naval Air Station and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean war. Mr. Hunt was a member of Poplar Creek Nations Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pauline Gibson; and a brother, Doyle Hunt.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Garrett Hunt of Poplar Creek; three daughters, Linda Baggett and her husband, Leland, of Robertsdale; Carol Barrett and her husband, Curtis, of Daphne; Janet Morris and her husband, John, of Quinton, Ala.; two sons, Billy Hunt and his wife, Glenda, of Poplar Creek; and Randy Hunt of Robertsdale; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, at Poplar Creek Nations Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Poplar Creek Nations Cemetery. The Revs. Ben Hill and Ed McDaniel will officiate the services.
