Luther "Wayne" Etheridge, age 71, a resident of Silverhill, Alabama, passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018.
Wayne was born July 20, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army from January 1966 until February 1967. He married his wife of 51 years, Mary Ellen Etheridge, in November 1966.
After the tour of duty, he went to work for BellSouth and retired June 30, 2002. He enjoyed coaching boys soccer from 1978-1986 and camping with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; a son, Donnie, and his wife Christy of Nashville, Tennessee; a daughter, Cathy Frego of Fairhope; two brothers, Larry O'Neal of Jonesboro, Georgia and Lewis Couch of Braselton, Georgia; four grandchildren, Lauren and Jesse Fuqua of Loxley, Alabama, Luke Etheridge of Auburn, Alabama, Leah Etheridge of Birmingham, Alabama and Johnny Frego of Fairhope, Alabama.
A celebration of Luther's life will be held Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 from 2 until 4 p.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.
