Lynda Joyce Carroll “L.T.” Thompson, born Sept. 4, 1938, in Sylvester, Ga., a resident of Orange Beach since 1999, died March 11, 2013 following a brief illness.
She had a long successful career in banking as vice president, Bank of America in Atlanta, general manager of financial suppliers in Duluth, Ga., president and Board chairman of Cobb American Bank, Marietta, Ga., and most recently an officer at Vision Bank Alabama.
She was very active within the Orange Beach and Ono communities. Wherever she lived her life was dedicated to helping others. She was a passionate supporter of hospice, worked long hours as a hospital volunteer, delivered Meals on Wheels and worked with programs to educate the youth in Baldwin County. She also served on the Baldwin County Board of Adjustments, Ono Island Board of Directors and a member of many Board committees.
Survivors include her loving husband, Richard Thompson; daughters, Michelle Thompson and Dana Thompson; and step-daughters, Susan B. Whatley and Sandra A. Lockard.
She never met a stranger, she was an avid bridge player and reader. Her zest for life will live on in the hearts of her family and many friends. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16 at Orange Beach United Methodist Church. Following services, a celebration of life will be held at the Harriett Cockrell Community Center on Ono Island.
