Theresa Guarisco Lynch, 99, a native and lifelong resident of Daphne, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at a local nursing facility.

She was an educator for over 40 years in Baldwin County.  She was a graduate of Troy State Teachers College (now Troy University) and a member of several honorary teachers organizations.

She was a life long member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Daphne, where she was an active member of the Ladies Altar Sodality. As a descendent of one of the founding families, she worked tirelessly for the annual Festa Italiana which focused on the many contributing roles of the Italian families in the Daphne area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Agostino and Mary Lazzari Guarisco; sisters, Mary Guarisco, Helen Posey and Anna Allegri; brothers, Joseph, Victor and Julian Guarisco.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Martha (Robert) Hohl of Fairhope; grandson, Mason (Leslie) Curran of Metairie, La., granddaughter, Mary Teresa “Terri” Curran of Robertsdale; great-grandson, Sam Curran Hatton; brother, Alfred (Joan) Guarisco; two sisters, Cecil Wood of Fairhope and Angele “Teeny” Trione of Daphne; and her extended family whom she helped rear, Michael (Anna Lou) Allegri, Joann (Wirth) Yarborough and Stephen Allegri.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Friday, March 5 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Daphne. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with interment at Belforest Catholic Cemetery, Daphne.

The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101 or the charity of your choice.
