Mary Louise Machlan, a native of Duluth, Minn., and a resident of Fairhope, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007.
She was a graduate of Hiram College (A.B.) and the University of Louisville (M.Ed.), and she pursued additional graduate work in mathematics and computer science at the University of South Alabama, at Springhill College, and at the University of Alabama.
She taught three years in Kentucky, two years in Midland City, Alabama, and thirty-six years at Fairhope High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Machlan.
Survivors include a daughter, Marki Chatfield of Fairhope; one grandson, Marcus Hathcock of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Tom (Frances) Parks of Fairhope; nephews, Tom (Destiny) Parks III and Keith (Leigh) Parks, grand-nieces, Laurin Parks and Chandler (Adam) Mikkleson; grand nephews, Tommy, Chris, and Stuart Parks; and cousin Kermit (Diane) Mangus.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Fairhope Christian Church.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Fairhope Christian Church.
