Donald Franklin Maddux, 87, a former resident of Daphne and Fairhope, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at his daughter's home in Tampa, Fla.
He was born on June 15, 1922 in Richmond, Mo., to Julius Franklin Maddux and Bessie Armetha Hendrix Maddux.
He was a farmer in the Richmond area before moving first to Brooksville, Fla., then to Opp in 1976.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Pauline Schofield of Richmond in 1982 and by his second wife of 25 years Judy Ayers of Opp in March of this year.
Survivors include six children, Carolyn Luthi of Clarksville, Ga., Pattie Cafaro of Tampa, Fla., Evelyn Smith of Tallahassee, Fla., Kay Robertson of Daphne, David Maddux of Foley and Danny Ayers of Huntsville; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 23 at the First Baptist Church of Opp. Interment followed at Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens in Opp.
Arrangements are by Hughes Cremation & Funeral Service, Daphne.
