In Ms. Coghlan’s music classes at Magnolia School, students are busy learning about instruments and rhythm. Kinderagarten-3rd grade students are keeping a steady beat on the drums and mallet instruments. 4th and 5th grade students are learning to play new notes on the recorder. Several new sixth grade students joined the band after having some music instruments donated to the school.

In Mrs. Munoz’s kindergarten class, they have been learning about Valentine’s Day and doing a math workbook with it. Their teacher is nice, and the class is fun. They color pages sometimes and have some homework. They mainly work on spelling and practicing writing and ABC’s for homework. They are excited to learn more than most think they would.

In Ms. Cote’s 1st grade, they completed an activity for Groundhog’s Day, made a symbol book about America, and created a day and night booklet. They use the Document Camera and Accelerated Reader. They are learning how to read long vowel sounds, add and subtract, and skip counting. They like it because Ms. Cote is a great teacher and they have fun learning in class.

In Mrs. Middleton’s 1st grade class, they are writing in their journals. They look at the topic on the board, and then they write and illustrate on their own. In computer, they enjoy taking A.R tests and doing lessons in Compass Learning. In math, her class is adding and subtracting numbers in one minute. The most favorite thing about Mrs. Middleton’s class is that they have good friends.

Mr. Richardson’s 2nd grade class made their own clocks. For both reading and Social Studies, they are studying Helen Keller. They also are working on sign language. In science they are learning about the Moon. In math they are doing addition, subtraction, and angles. For technology, they use the Smartboard, computers, and a new touch screen computer. Things they enjoy in his class are computers, music, and EVERYTHING!

In Mrs. Ramsey’s fourth grade class, they are doing projects on the planets of the solar system. They have the option of constructing a model or making a poster. They will also complete research on the planet. They are learning to simplify fractions, add fractions, and subtract fractions. Their reading story this week is Encyclopedia Brown. They take tests, do research, and play games on the computer. Students say they have the best teacher in the whole school. She is funny, and she is very nice. They say she makes really funny jokes.

In Mrs. Watson’s fifth grade class, they have just completed a unit on the solar system. In computer lab, they work on Compass Learning and take A.R. tests. They also play games and watch Brain Pop. In math, they are learning Cartesian planes. Their favorite thing about Mrs. Watson’s class is the friendships they have been able to create in her class.
