MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, Alabama - Several nonprofit organizations

are gearing up for a community spaghetti dinner in Magnolia Springs

to benefit the groups’ various causes. The dinner is set to take

place at the Magnolia Springs Community Center on Thursday, Oct. 6,

from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“Members from each organization will be participating in

set-up and decorating, food preparation, and serving,” event

coordinator Janet Paarlberg said. “Members of each of the

organizations will be doing a little of everything.”

For $8, residents can sit down to or take out a plate loaded

up with spaghetti, accompanied by sides and desserts. Plates for

children under five year old cost $5 and a family of four can feast

for $24.

Participation organizations include the Magnolia Springs

Community Association, who are raising funds for the community

hall, the Kiwanas Club for family support funds, the Garden Club

for community beautification projects, the Stray Love Foundation

for care for stray animals found in the area, the public library

for books for the new library, and the Magnolia Springs Volunteer

Fire Department for training new recruits.

major goal for the event is to work together to support each other

and their organization.  We are a small community with at least six

non-profit organizations needing funds to support their individual

cause,” Paarlberg said. “By working together, we are able to

support each other, raise a little money, offer a reasonably

affordable dinner to the community and surrounding area, and have

some fun together all at the same time.”
