MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, Ala. — The Magnolia Springs Public Library will officially open its doors on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. due to a grant by the Snook Foundation. Grand opening festivities will include a “Breakfast with the Author” featuring children’s writer Katie Speck, author of Maybelle in the Soup and Maybelle Goes to Tea. The breakfast, which is sold out, will be held at 10 a.m. at Jesse’s On the Side in Magnolia Springs. The festivities will continue with an open house for the public from 2 to 4 p.m. at the new library.

The week of Oct. 16 is National Friends of the Library Week and, to celebrate, the library will open its doors on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at noon. Behind the scenes, numerous volunteers have processed library books, prepared shelves, assisted in a myriad of behind-the-scenes tasks and made contributions in every way imaginable.

“We have been so impressed with the way the Magnolia Springs community has welcomed the library,” said Alida Given, director of the Magnolia Springs Public Library. “The town council, the Volunteer Fire Department, United Bank, Magnolia Springs Pharmacy, Jesse’s and the community have all contributed to help make the library a success. We already feel right at home.”
