Magnolia Springs residents decry Holly Street status

MAGNOLIA SPRINGS — A Magnolia Springs road seems to be in limbo.

During its regular work session Monday, the Magnolia Springs Town Council was approached by several residents about the status of Holly Street.

“We own the property on all sides of it,” Todd Puckett said in an interview after the meeting.

The problem appears to be that Holly Street erroneously appears on maps and global-positioning systems as a working thoroughfare. However, that is not the actual case.

“If you pulled up to it, you’d think you were going into somebody’s driveway,” Puckett said of the dead-end strip of land.

Puckett and his neighbors told the Council that the classification as a town road brings an excess of traffic to the area, all of which have to turn around and find an actual working route.

Upon further discussion, the council advised Puckett and his neighbors to draft and sign a petition requesting that the road be vacated by the town of Magnolia Springs.

The Magnolia Springs Town Council will hold its next regular meeting at 5 p.m. Sept. 24.
