MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, Ala. - Coming in October, the residents of and near Magnolia Springs will be able to visit a new public building to pick up a new book or just relax and read a timeless classic.
That is because the Magnolia Springs Public Library is set to open in October, with the funds to begin the public service coming from a grant received from the Snook Foundation.
"We envision our library offering valued services to our town and its surrounding communities where readily available access to a library is currently unavailable," Alida Given, librarian, stated in a press release. "The library will always provide full service children and adult capabilities, because these needs are anticipated as constant."
The library will include books, up-to-date computers and wireless internet. It also will be connected to the county system so residents and patrons can receive books that the library does not immediately have.
"We are on our way to becoming the best little library in Baldwin County, Alabama, and beyond," Given stated.
The library plans to open the week of Oct. 17, which is Friends of the Library Week nationally.
A Derby Day event was held Saturday at the library. Derby Day was a Magnolia Springs tradition, and it allowed residents to become acquainted with the location of the future town landmark.
The library is located at 12440 Magnolia Ave. Suite 600. For more information about the library, contact (251) 965-2305.
